The birth control pills are to "reset my cycle" so that the shots can take control more easily. The antibiotics are to get us nice and healthy for the process to come. We have to take them twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. We learned from our last round that if you don't eat something before you take it in the morning, you will feel nauseous! Since we already have the frozen embryos (that are fertilized) from our IVF cycle - I was surprised that my husband still has to take the antibiotic pills this time around. But Mackenzie explained that they want him healthy too - so he's not getting me sick either. Which makes sense!
Later that afternoon I got a call from Penny, the ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) nurse. We worked with her a lot during our IVF cycle and I really like her! She confirmed that we were all set to start the birth control and antibiotics on Sunday the 20th. She said that she'd work on our calendar and that Nancy/Mackenzie would get with us next week to go over everything.
My husband went to the pharmacy to pick up our prescriptions on Saturday. Since he was picking up both antibiotics and birth control, the pharmacist warned him that antibiotics can lessen the effectiveness of birth control. Kinda ironic and funny in a way that we are being warned of the dangers of pregnancy - little do they know! :) Of course prior to our own IVF experience, if someone was picking up a birth control prescription - I would probably assume that they do not want to get pregnant as well.
And today is our Day 3 - so we have officially started this frozen embryo transfer process, round 2 of Operation Baby Johnston (OBJ) for 2011! I looked back in my blog to see when "Day 3" was for our IVF cycle. It was on December 20th - so it's kinda weird that we're having another "Day 3" today on March 20th. It seems so long ago and we've been through a lot in the past 3 months - but we're ready to get back on that horse and give it another try. We haven't been to church in awhile, but we made it there this morning. The message was about surrendering to God and not trying to do things on our own. One of the songs also touched me, it was called "Better Than a Hallelujah." To me, the song is saying that God still loves us no matter what we're going through. And that our cries out to God for strength/guidance in our times of struggle are important to Him as well. I found this music video by Amy Grant on Youtube, in case you want to check it out.
